Could you pass me the salt, please?

Why do we people like this? "Oh, there is a sad song, and I'm sad, it's such a good idea to listen to it on repeat!" or "Oh there is cartoon, I'm pretty sure it won't break my heart at million pieces, right?" and then after watching the whole season sitting in the dark, thinking about eternity and staring into the void with though "Wow, that hurt like hell". XD Rational would be: don't add salt to wound, but no, it would be to easy. x)
